It will only take 30 minutes!

Sometime ago, last week... I was just wrapping up an Under Observation manaburn run with two LS members, Drimergirl and Onedarkflame .(We had done a total of 5 runs, but unfortunately no PCC or Utsusemi: Ni dropped) Then I get a /tell from my friend Carste (aka Mr. Chuck Norris) asking if i'd be interested in fighting an NM with him, called Gration.

I told him yes, and prepped my RDM/NIN. He came out on his BLM/NIN, and told me the fight shouldn't be more than 30 minutes. Just a little bit of kiting between the two of us, with some nuking here and there.

Well, he was just a tad off with his prediction for how long the fight would take. And when I say a little, I actually mean a lot. The fight was a total of 2.5 hrs!

It actually wasn't that bad though, because I gained a lot of kiting experience and really enjoyed having to be focused throughout the entire fight. I was going to write out the story of everything that happened, but then I realized Carste had already done a great job and figured i'd just cheat and link you all to his blog - Carste the Beardmage

There was some deaths, there was some laughs, and there was definitely a lot of "I'm dead..." from Carste, only to have that be thrown back into his face due to his uber kiting skills.

In the end we only got about 4.5k gil, (no drop on the shield that goes for about 300k) but it was one of the more enjoyable things i've had a chance to do in this game in a long time. Maybe we'll give it another go in the weeks ahead, though I think this time we might officially enlist some additional help (last time we had Drimergirl and Soulstar come out to give us a hand during the last hour) just to speed up the process. I mean after all, its suppose to be a 30 minute fight!

Other than that, i've recently found out that I apparently have too much time on my hands. Carste had mentioned a feature on the ffxiah.com site that allows you to see how many merits you've accumulated.

I have... 508 merits.

...

I think it might be time for me to start giving my christmas list of Xbox 360 & Nintendo DS games I want so that I have an excuse to play something else in my spare time, haha.

I've also managed to get my leathercraft to 52. I'm mostly focusing on making Catoblepas Hides until 57ish, but the problem is no one ever kills Catoblepas anymore, so there's never any on the AH. Luckily though, some friends from my social dragged me out one day and we farmed up quite a bit, which allowed me to get to 52. I'll probably try to setup another date to do a group farming thing, seeing as people can skill up and lvl their fellow NPCs at the same time.

Aside from that, i've pretty much just been seeking and xping on my MNK. I've gotten it to lvl 60 so far, and i'm currently debating if i'll use it in my ls static when I catch up to everyone else. We only xp twice a week though, so i'm still undecided. I have a lot of gear for my MNK at 75, and would like to sell off all the other stuff I currently use to make some more gil. (I've been slacking a lot on my farming recently... but I guess a break is good now and then)

Oh, and I guess its worth noting that Dynamis Xarcabard does have a better drop rate for AF when you skip the NM demons. My shell tried this strategy earlier this week, and we ended up with 9 AF and 1 - 100c. Though we didn't see the most sought after pieces drop, we did get a few people the gear they'd been wanting. It was a really smooth run too, considering our puller (Mr. Chuck Norris) had never pulled the zone before, and he pretty much came up with the pulls within an hour of our run.

So now i'm off to help my friend Sabene lvl her BLM. Can't wait to help her get 75... Manaburn KSNM {Can I Have It?} I'm not a fan of the whole "duo-ing" or "solo-ing" to get my xp, but I like the convenience of being able to AFK whenever I need to, when i'm duoing on BLM. Oh and that reminds me, a friend invited me to a trio xp session - MNK (me), RNG, RNG. We had 2 RDM PLs being duo-boxed, but the xp was equal to what i'd be getting in a full 6pt setup. Plus, it was a little more exciting being able to tank as MNK... though, I was just a tad squishy. <_<
