Statics Galore @_@

So as of late, i've been finding myself busy with many LS statics. Most of them are leveling statics, and thanks to the new update SE brought in with the level sync, things have been made much more convenient.

The wednesday/sunday static that i've been in for about 4 months now, has finally hit lvl 68. I've even managed to get my MNK caught up, and have decided to bring that job to our static sessions until I get it to 75. It isn't as great as my SAM, but according to the parser I use, I was #2 for dmg in the party during our last session so I don't feel bad for gimping the party too much, hehe.

I'll be really happy when I finally get my MNK to 73. I'm going to sell my cross counters and finally get some gil back again. The only downside, is that they've gone down by 350k since I first bought them on Kaelyth... go figure. I might end up keeping them around for a bit to see if the price goes up a little, but we'll see.

After I get my MNK to 75, I plan to start on my DRG which is currently sitting at 24. I know the job isn't anywhere near as good as my SAM, but i've always liked the "lvling to 75" process. Plus its the only way I can convince my friend Elden to work on his SAM. I promised i'd lvl my DRG with his SAM, and we'd take the jobs to 75. This way, he'll finally be able to enjoy a REAL damage dealer. His jobs so far are PUP, DNC, BRD, and soon SCH. Aside from taking out his staff and watching his puppet outdamage him, he hasn't really been able to enjoy the "big numbers". So hopefully this will finally get him to retire his spatula (nickname me and some ls friends gave him for his club) and use a real weapon!

I've also been working slowly on my SMN. I'm in a static that only happens on Sundays, and even though it is once a week we've been averaging 2 levels every session. I've gotten my job to 44, and look forward to being able to Stoneskin-ga and Haste-ga my party. My avatars don't really do any amazing dmg, so for the most part I feel a little useless in the party at the moment. Sabene is RDM and is really quick on covering the healing as well as the enfeebles, so sometimes its a race between the two of us to heal our little ninja taru Falk (though his name currently is Sjoidjgo due to the stupid RMT that hacked his account and changing it). Athoz brings his MNK to the static to get as much xp on the job as he can, and recently we just had Nightshadexl fill in as WAR for Zeo who had to step out of the static. Its a relaxing static, nothing too complicated ^^

My Nyzul static has recently changed into a "merit/xp" static. We're hoping to help two of our members, Soulstar and Drimergirl get their DRK and WAR to 75 so that they can bring these jobs to our Nyzul runs. Prior to this, Soulstar would come on his SMN and Drimergirl was coming on her WAR. We've managed to get to floor 40 (absolutely 0 drops on gear though!) with the setup of: SAM, WAR, THF, SMN, WAR(70), DNC but we were finding that the kills weren't fast enough, leaving us with too little time for the bosses. So once we get Soulstar and Drimergirl to 75, we'll continue our Nyzul runs on Fridays again and hopefully we'll see floor 100 one day!

I also had somewhat of a BCNM static that I was doing with Sabene and Elden every Monday. We would go and trio Under Observation on our BLMs, and we've actually managed to get 2 Peacock Charms out of 3 sessions, which probably works out to about 2/11 runs. The only downside is that we're all out of beastmen seals now, so we'll have to hold off before we can do another run. Even if we don't get lucky, I still enjoy being able to manaburn the fight. The trickiest part, is making sure i'm quick to heal whoever gets hit first because usually the other two will be casting and we've had a couple of deaths so far. The only time we ever wiped was our first run though, and I think that's because it was the first time Sabene and Elden had ever tried the BCNM.

And thanks to the extra gil in my pocket, i've decided not to be sooo stingy and finally buy some more ingredients to level my crafts - Smithing. I've taken it to lvl 24, and plan to work on it as much as I can for the next month or two and hopefully get it to lvl 60.

My leathercraft unfortunately hasn't really gone up much recently. It's stuck at lvl 55, and only because I can't ever seem to get Catoblepas Hides on the AH. Not many people kill the high lvl dhamels anymore, so they don't show up on the AH often. And of course when they do, they're bought instantly and I always end up missing them. But thankfully i've been able to schedule a couple of "ls farming" sessions and managed to get a couple of lvls. We don't get too many skins, but some is better than none.

The other thing i've been up to recently, is campaign. I decided to suck it up, and get the allied notes I needed to buy myself the Cobra Unit Cap, and Cobra Unit Subligar for my MNK. I also had to change alligiance to Windurst because otherwise i'd have to pay through the roof to get the items. In total, it only cost me 90k AN which is a lot better than having to spend gil. These pieces will last me a couple of levels, and considering that each lvl is about 30k experience points, that should be a while.

The thing i've noticed about campaign though, is that if you're doing it with friends its a lot more bearable. I've been lucky to snag Janko, a friend for a couple of runs and other times i've gone with Athoz, Sabene, Elden and Carste. I don't mind doing campaign when i'm with friends, but that's probably because we're usually all on skype and can hear each other scream when we suddenly find ourselves being hounded by quadav NMs that seem to have some vendetta against us. <_<;

I'm looking forward to December though. I'm planning to do some LS events for my social. Unfortunately I haven't had the motivation or desire to organize any "fun ls events" in the last few months but with Christmas coming... I can't help but want to plan something. I'm thinking of doing a "Secret Santa" exchange with the members, and then hopefully we'll do a treasure hunt where our members split off into teams and have to go farm up items around Vana'diel. The winning team will receive a prize, and i've already decided that the losing team(s) will have to walk through Aht Urghan Whitegate singing in shout "I'm too Sexy". I can't wait to see them embarass themselves, mwahahaha! (And maybe then people can finally have reason to say that i'm evil!)

Oh and I also did some "super" power leveling for ls members recently. I gave hand with them leveling their subjobs, and it turned out great. I think Drimergirl, managed to get 5 lvls on her NIN in just a couple of hours. I was glad to be able to help with the annoying process of lvling subjobs, especially the kind you don't enjoy lvling but you do anyways because its the only way you can play your main job efficiently. Wow... what happened to fun? O_O

And last but not least, I got snagged on Friday to help out with some Bastok missions. I had vowed never to touch the nation missions ever again, after I had sped through completing them myself in a matter of weeks... but, when I realized I wouldn't have to do the lengthy cutscenes, I said yes. Afterall, I finally got a chance to use my BLM! ^___^

Well, that wraps up this update. But... just because I can, here are a couple of pics from my wed/sun ls static. We have too much fun sometimes~

Somehow we managed to make the crawler turn charcoal black! O_O (Look who's tanking! Ha! *flexes)

When Onedarkflame dies... we like to show him how much we respect him!

Ooooo.... pretty sunset in the desert.

It will only take 30 minutes!

Sometime ago, last week... I was just wrapping up an Under Observation manaburn run with two LS members, Drimergirl and Onedarkflame .(We had done a total of 5 runs, but unfortunately no PCC or Utsusemi: Ni dropped) Then I get a /tell from my friend Carste (aka Mr. Chuck Norris) asking if i'd be interested in fighting an NM with him, called Gration.

I told him yes, and prepped my RDM/NIN. He came out on his BLM/NIN, and told me the fight shouldn't be more than 30 minutes. Just a little bit of kiting between the two of us, with some nuking here and there.

Well, he was just a tad off with his prediction for how long the fight would take. And when I say a little, I actually mean a lot. The fight was a total of 2.5 hrs!

It actually wasn't that bad though, because I gained a lot of kiting experience and really enjoyed having to be focused throughout the entire fight. I was going to write out the story of everything that happened, but then I realized Carste had already done a great job and figured i'd just cheat and link you all to his blog - Carste the Beardmage

There was some deaths, there was some laughs, and there was definitely a lot of "I'm dead..." from Carste, only to have that be thrown back into his face due to his uber kiting skills.

In the end we only got about 4.5k gil, (no drop on the shield that goes for about 300k) but it was one of the more enjoyable things i've had a chance to do in this game in a long time. Maybe we'll give it another go in the weeks ahead, though I think this time we might officially enlist some additional help (last time we had Drimergirl and Soulstar come out to give us a hand during the last hour) just to speed up the process. I mean after all, its suppose to be a 30 minute fight!

Other than that, i've recently found out that I apparently have too much time on my hands. Carste had mentioned a feature on the ffxiah.com site that allows you to see how many merits you've accumulated.

I have... 508 merits.

...

I think it might be time for me to start giving my christmas list of Xbox 360 & Nintendo DS games I want so that I have an excuse to play something else in my spare time, haha.

I've also managed to get my leathercraft to 52. I'm mostly focusing on making Catoblepas Hides until 57ish, but the problem is no one ever kills Catoblepas anymore, so there's never any on the AH. Luckily though, some friends from my social dragged me out one day and we farmed up quite a bit, which allowed me to get to 52. I'll probably try to setup another date to do a group farming thing, seeing as people can skill up and lvl their fellow NPCs at the same time.

Aside from that, i've pretty much just been seeking and xping on my MNK. I've gotten it to lvl 60 so far, and i'm currently debating if i'll use it in my ls static when I catch up to everyone else. We only xp twice a week though, so i'm still undecided. I have a lot of gear for my MNK at 75, and would like to sell off all the other stuff I currently use to make some more gil. (I've been slacking a lot on my farming recently... but I guess a break is good now and then)

Oh, and I guess its worth noting that Dynamis Xarcabard does have a better drop rate for AF when you skip the NM demons. My shell tried this strategy earlier this week, and we ended up with 9 AF and 1 - 100c. Though we didn't see the most sought after pieces drop, we did get a few people the gear they'd been wanting. It was a really smooth run too, considering our puller (Mr. Chuck Norris) had never pulled the zone before, and he pretty much came up with the pulls within an hour of our run.

So now i'm off to help my friend Sabene lvl her BLM. Can't wait to help her get 75... Manaburn KSNM {Can I Have It?} I'm not a fan of the whole "duo-ing" or "solo-ing" to get my xp, but I like the convenience of being able to AFK whenever I need to, when i'm duoing on BLM. Oh and that reminds me, a friend invited me to a trio xp session - MNK (me), RNG, RNG. We had 2 RDM PLs being duo-boxed, but the xp was equal to what i'd be getting in a full 6pt setup. Plus, it was a little more exciting being able to tank as MNK... though, I was just a tad squishy. <_<
